Mumbai,Gati Ltd., Indias leading express distribution & supply chain solutions provider today announced its tie-up with Bangladesh-based Xpress International to provide end to end solutions, especially for surface movement, between the two countries. With this Gati Ltd have become the first Indian company, and the leader in the region, to provide such solutions between the both countries.
Gati Ltd., sees a huge potential from this tie-up. Daily 700-750 trucks are crossing the border from India to Bangladesh carrying engineering equipment and parts, automobile spares, pharma products, textile yarn and gift items, plus around 150 to 175 trucks from Bangladesh are entering into India carrying Jute products, Hilsa fish and cotton / textile waste for industry use.
Commenting on the tie-up, Mr. Sameer Khatri, Chief- International Business Officer, Gati Ltd., said Gati was already doing business with Bangladesh but this formal engagement with Xpress International will strengthen our network to carry out our business even more successfully. Gati, with its vast experience in the field of supply chain, will lend its expertise, and provide IT integration, for the two companies in order to drive success.
For the first time, a complete solution will be given to the customers of India and Bangladesh. The total surface transportation package, including Surface Express & the Surface Freight mode will be provided by the arrangement between both the companies. The operations of On Board Courier Service (OBC) and Airfreight service will also commence after the approval of the regulatory agencies. All these services are expected to commence shortly.
Gati sees huge potential in this market and expects good revenues during the first year and business to grow at almost 30-40% year-on-year.
