Chandigarh, The franchise and retail opportunities, FRO2010, concluded here today at Hotel Taj Chandigarh with over 2000 business visitors exploring newer entrepreneurship opportunities. There had been over 3,000 visitors to the exhibition at the 29th edition of FRO, which is the fourth one to be held in the city, was organised jointly by Franchise India Holdings Ltd (FIHL) and Indian Franchise Association (IFA), according to Mr Gaurav Marya, Director, FIHL. On the second day of the business conference, Entrepreneurship 2.0, on this occasion, some of the leading brand representatives interacted with nearly 120 young entrepreneurs looking for new business opportunities. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Sameer Kaul, Director, Dr Lal PathLabs, one of the countrys largest chain of clinical pathology labs, said that Entrepreneurship is for the dreamers who convert every opportunity into a business reality. He, however, emphasized that integrity and professionalism are key attributes of entrepreneurs to create a sustainable business, notwithstanding the fact that having right people in the right place contributes to business success immensely. Mr. R.P. Gupta, managing director of Jetking Info said that IT is a highly skilled profession which empowers a youngster to become a professional for the life-time, a mission which should be acknowledged by the entrepreneurs entering this arena of IT education. Mr. Darpan Kapoor, Director, Kapsons, the pioneers in fashion in Panjab, said that retail is a science which an entrepreneur must understand thoroughly. He said that people in the region make more passive investment instead of investing into new businesses that could open up employment opportunities and help the economy to grow. The salons and spa market in India requires more than 10 lakh trained professionals in the country in next three years, remarked Mr. Naunihal Singh, CEO of Strands Salons Pvt Ltd. Mr. Partap Aggarwal, managing director of IDS Infotech also addressed the participants about the art of forecasting for business growth. In the expo where more than 75 brands were offering franchise opportunities, the companies were gung-ho about the possibilities for growth that the region offers. Karan Bajwa of Shemrock Group of Schools remarked that they are making three tie-ups on an average every day. We intend to finalize at least ten schools in Punjab this year, he added. Jetking, which already has good presence in the region, said that they have received good response for franchise operations in Bathinda and Pathankot, which are their main focus areas. While Geetanjali Jewels of Mumbai Mr. Jaspal Singh, Regional Director of Re/Max in the real estate broking business had the maximum turnout of over 250 serious enquiries and hoped that several tie-ups would come up as a result of the interactions with the prospects.
