Mumbai, Maharashtra, Actor Vidya Balan, is known for her powerful performances and her fresh beauty. Although she is appreciated for her professional contribution and Indian looks, she is considered a private person. "I am friendly and love being with people close to me," she says in an exclusive interview with Complete Wellbeing magazine [January 2010 issue] post the roaring success of Paa. She adds that the general belief about her reticence is a misconception.
When it comes to physical fitness, Vidya admits that lack of variety and challenge in her physical fitness routine bores her. "I need to do a workout that is innovative and different," says she. For her happiness is extremely important to be healthy. "I pray and exercise to be healthy as well as happy," she says. However, she is quick to point out that she is "spiritual and not religious".
In the free-wheeling chat, Vidya spoke on several aspects of her personality, which are little known to people for instance, her obsession for cleanliness. "I am a stickler for cleanliness. I know I cant go about changing the world, but I make sure my room, my car, my cupboard and my vanity van when I am on shoot is spick and span," she says.
Vidya has a very strong belief in herself, faith in a Higher power and deep gratitude for her family. She attributes all that she is to her family.

So you are religious...
I am not religious, I am spiritual. I dont believe in a particular form of God, but I love going to temples and shrines. I love Ganeshjee-one of the reasons for that is the elephant is my favourite animal [laughs].
What do you mean when you say spiritual?
Being spiritual for me is just about praying to the extent that after a point God is no more external, but a part of my internal identity. This is a constant endeavour for me and helps me ingrain spirituality in my life.
