Mumbai, In living up to its title as an international school, Nita Ambanis, Dhirubhai Ambani International School aims to work towards international peace and security in the United Nations and preparing they pupils to take part in the future of World Government. The Dhirubhai Ambani International Model United Nations (DAIMUN) is an attempt by the Reliance group to emulate the goals of prestigious United Nations by fostering the spirit of international unity. Through this initiative of Nita Ambanis, Dhirubahi Ambani International School wants to promote an environment where in delegates from different countries come together on a common platform and maintain international peace and security.

Nita Ambani aims to ensure the students of her school a great opportunity to make their voices heard on the global front. DAIMUN gives an opportunity to the delegates to get the most realistic experience ever. DAIMUM was created in 2004 by a group of students at Dhirubhai Ambani International School and with the students efforts; DAIMUN is fast becoming one of the worlds most recognized Model United Nations. Dhirubhai Ambani International Model United Nations was created on the lines of THIMUN which stands for The Hague International Model United Nations. After Mr. Remco van der Zwaag visited DAIMUN, THIMUN granted recognition to it because of the potential of this model run by Dhirubhai Ambani International School.

The 2009 DAIMUN which lasted for 4 days, 19th to the 20th of December was an elaborately planned and enormously successful affair. The theme chosen for the DAIMUN was The Energy Crisis which is most apt due to the energy crisis which is currently the one of the greatest threats to humanity. The items on agenda were carefully picked after in-depth research and going through various feasibility studies. In DAIMUN each participant is confronted with real-life situations faced by the world that needs to be debated at the United Nations. In Dhirubhai Ambani International Model United Nations, participants are taught to defend their view point on various issues to find an effective solution to the problem on an international platform. Through DAIMUN, awareness on global issues can be created along with the development of debating and diplomatic skills.

Nita Ambani, Chairperson, Dhirubhai Ambani International School seeks to cultivate a culture of excellence and zeal in the selection of the delegates. Since these delegates will represent the country in the United Nations, only those candidates are selected who show the potential to be talented and professional. It offers a unique platform to the candidates promising intelligent and animated debates.
