On Mon. 21st Dec., with the opening of Prego, their Italian restaurant with a twist, the Westin Pune Koregaon Park introduced our willing palates to the best of Italian cuisine. And to double the day delight, Nasir Shaikh, Director - Food & Beverage, made the opening a high-spirited one by combining it with the official launch of another epicurean specialty from Italy - Riona wines from the fabled Marche region.

The bonhomie that made the event stand out was evident from the start. Guests were greeted with a selection of fine wines and the strains of melodious music from the live band in attendance. Mr.Rajesh Rasal, the CEO of Riona wines uncorked the evening celebrations with a Rosso piceno, Colle Malvano, that is a blend of sangiovese & montepulciano grapes, that is one of the best blends for the Indian palate, especially for the beginners. Chef Ray delicacies, crafted expressly for the occasion, were matched to a nicety by the Riona reds and whites. If there ever was a match made in gourmet heaven, this was surely it.

A typical meal here begins with Prego signature dip and country bread followed by delicious pizzas, pastas and meats. Lovers of all things Italian are sure to feel right at home at Prego. There is no opera but the see through kitchen adds a definite element of excitement, while giving new meaning to the phrase "dinner theatre" Prego is the ideal venue be it intimate dinners or impromptu celebrations. The restaurant seats an impressive 140 persons, this includes the private dining and al fresco areas.
