Bengaluru, JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Bangalores leading fashion technology institute is today presenting the Annual Design Awards 2009-10 to showcase the creations of the graduating students. Choreographed by Rahul Dev Shetty, the creations will be showcased by leading professional models from Bangalore at a fashion event held at Hotel Chancery Pavilion on Wednesday, May 19, 2010. The theme for this years annual design awards is YOU. The event will bring together many renowned names from the fashion/film industry, garment buying houses and the apparel industry. The event also saw the formal unveiling of the new look of JD Institute.

Speaking about JDs Annual Design Awards, Mr. Nealesh Dalal, Managing Trustee, JD Institute of Fashion Technology says, Today the opportunities in fashion are numerous. The world is witnessing a fashion revolution and it has touched our doorsteps. This is quite evident with the changing trends in todays fast moving life and adaptive multi cultural lifestyle which we all lead. JD Institute that started as far back as 1988 indeed has more names to its credit than most would know. Our students have over the years been presenting various creations that have captured the imagination and creativity of the fashion world. This annual event is a celebration of the talent and their creativity.

JD Institute conducts Annual design excellence awards every year for the students who graduate, which requires tremendous hard work and dedication from these young minds as their work is evaluated by prominent figures from fashion design and film fraternity.

Commenting on this years theme YOU, Nealesh added, Each of us have a distinct style and follow it. Its YOU who play a major role in todays fashion world. That is the reason why we came up with this theme and encouraged JDiiians to create what they have been inspired by to put together their Annual Design Collection.

JD Institute has created some of the well known fashion gurus like Rocky. S. Sapna Bhattacharya, Ranjita Bokadia and Sapna Patel to name a few. The commitment to deliver the best at the global level is what inspires these aspirants of the Fashion world, added Nealesh.

Designers and their collections:
Designer Malavika Manays collection is based on the theme Resort wear and the concept is based on the reality TV show Beach Wear where one is taken around the world to explore different beach destinations. The designer has chosen Coral and Raya Islands (Thailand) as her inspiration and taken elements from the island such as the famous fan and fire corals and ripples of the ocean. The main lead of the collection is a mix of leisure wear and vivid lounge wear and the comfort wear comprises of exaggerated and moderate silhouettes. The fabrics used are silk, chiffon, linen, and cotton and shell embellishments and a bit of extravagance by using silk and chiffon. This collection caters to a woman of 30, a socialite filled with opulence and luxuries that get her anywhere in the world.
