Indian classical music indulged in an action-packed jugalbandhi with jazz
In keeping its commitment to promote art, culture and music, Ishanya Art and Culture Club will present yet another musical extravaganza for Punekars. The maestro, Shubha Mudgal along with her husband Aneesh Pradhan and her team of musicians under the banner Koshish will present a fusion lineup, featuring some popular and some unreleased songs. The event shall be held at the Ishanya Amphitheatre on 7th May, 2010 from 8 pm onwards.
Koshish- is a soul-stirring fusion of Indian Classical, North Indian Music, Western art music, Jazz and Sufi Poetry. Each of the performers will bring something unique to the stage - from Pratap Rath, percussionists, a veteran of the world of film music to jazz drummer Benoni Soans. Artists to perform also include Joquim Dais on the Bass guitar, Sudhir Nayak on the harmonium, Murad Ali on the Sarangi and Cuthbert Dsilva on Bass player.
Ishanyas open-air Amphitheatre with its state- of- the art sound, water and laser equipment will provide the perfect ambience to bring together different schools and styles in musical dialogue with each other. The backdrop of light, colour and water promises to give music lovers in Pune an unforgettable experience.
Commenting on the event, Shubha Mudgal said, Performing at Ishanya feels like coming home. Having conducted Baajaa Gaajaa for two consecutive years at Ishanya, Pune is one of my favourite performing destinations. The reason I enjoy performing here is because the audience is very diverse and it caters to all kinds of tastes. Theres Sufi, Indian classical, bhangra, experimental work and much more. I am looking forward to present Koshish here. It shall have a perfect Indo-western blend of music which should be well appreciated by audience of all ages.
Prior to this, Shubha Mudgal has conducted the very successful musical event, Baajaa Gaajaa at Ishanya, for two consecutive years. Baajaa Gaajaa, a 3-day event-expo dedicated to Indian music, featured performances, workshops, exhibitions, tradeshows, seminars and film screenings on different aspects of Indian music. It shall be an annual feature at Ishanya.
