Kolkata, West Bengal, A Seminar on Glimpses on Recent Advancement in Membrane Technology was organized by Department of Chemical Engineering Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata in collaboration with Department of Chemical Engineering, Jadavpur University, at Heritage Institute of Technology on 5th March, 2010. The Seminar was formally inaugurated by Professor S. Datta, Pro Vice Chancellor of Jadavpur University. In his key note address he spoke about the latest development in Membrane Technology in the field of Science. After that, Prof. B.B. Paira, Director HIT and the Chairman, Organizing Committee of the Seminar welcomed the Chief Guest and other eminent speakers present and explained the basic objective of organizing such type of seminar related to Membrane Technology and gave an insight to the topic for the noble cause for which the college sustains. Later onwards, a Keynote Lecture was delivered by Professor Pinaki Bhattacharya, Head of the Department, Chemical Engineering, Jadavpur University.
The seminar was also contributed by eminent speakers such as Professor Ranjana Chowdhury, Professor, Chemical Engineering, Jadavpur University, Professor Probir Roy, Executive Director, HITK, Professor D.C. Roy, Joint Director, HITK, Professor S. Biswas Principal, HITK, Professor S. Vedajnananda, Professor Chemical Engineering, HITK, Dr. Sibdas Bandopadhyaya, Scientist, C.G.C.R.I. Jadavpur,, Professor S. Basu, Former Professor IIT Mumbai, Professor C. Bhattachararya, Professor Jadavpur University and other dignitaries.. Prof. Ranjana Chowdhury spoke on the affinity- Ultra filtration, Professor S. Vedajnananda spoke about Reverse Osmosis in Membrane Technology, Dr. Sibdas Bandopadhyaya spoke about Ceramic Membrane and Water Purification, Professor S. Basu spoke about Pervaporation and Professor C. Bhattacharya spoke about applications of Membrane Technology.
The seminar was attended by more than 100 delegates from various corporate houses, students and faculties of HIT as well as Jadavpur University. At the end Prof. D. S. Dey Head of the Department, Chemical Engineering, HITK gave the valedictory session followed by distribution of certificates to all the participating delegates and the seminar ended with vote of thanks presented to all the dignitaries at, HIT, Kolkata.
