Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, Rock Band Jal from Pakistan stole the show on last day of Chorus, 2010, the annual youth festival of Sharda University. A rocking performance by Farhan and Gahur, members of rock band Jal, brought Chorus 2010 to a close.
Apart from students and teachers, guests too enjoyed Hindi rock songs members performed by Jal.
Simon Webb, a member of rock band Blue from UK preceded Jal performance and set the stage on fire with his band famous number ...One love. The enthusiastic audience responded with gusto not only applauding but also by singing along.
Prior to this, day three of Sharda University annual youth festival Chorus witnessed a thrilling show by MTV VJ Ranvijay. On the lines of popular reality show Roadies, Ranvijay hosted a session of "Rowdies" on Sharda University campus. The students applause for the favourite VJ of the young generation was louder than what one witnesses for Bollywood icons. VJ Ranvijay went on to select two winners of the "Rowdies" competition -- Ritu Sharma from second year, BDS department and Rahul Sharma a first year engineering student. "I enjoyed hosting this show here. I hope the students enjoyed the show as much as I did," Rannvijay said.
The day events also included competitions in Radio Jockeying and fusion dance.
Sharda University three-day youth festival Chorus which began on Monday was inaugurated by Mr. PK Gupta, Chancellor and Dr RP Singh, Vice Chancellor. Mr. Pankaj Shreyaskar, Deputy Chief Information Commissioner of India was chief guest at the function.
Dr RP Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Sharda University, said, "Chorus is a festival of students, by the students and for the students. Like its theme Global Oneness, Chorus gives a chance to students to come closer and act as a collective unit and showcase their talent in many fields other than just the academic."
Chorus 2010 Almost 3000 students of Sharda University, Delhi University and other NCR colleges participated in the events at Chorus.
Sharda University annual youth festival Chorus began with a spectacular stage performance by Daksha Seth troupe and a mesmerizing musical performance of Z. Waddali. The festival also saw the judging of the Nukkad Natak competions by Bollywood film director Imtiaz Ali, another favourite of the genX. Imtiaz Ali declared Group Natyakriti as the winner of the competition. "I am amazed with the acting skills and zeal of the students of Sharda University. These students are really talented, though, I believe the scope of Nukkad Natak is not for competitions but for real life," said the director.
Imtiaz Ali also delivered a lecture on film making whilst showcasing some of the scenes from his films such as Jab We Met and Love Aaj Kal. He also selected two students through a skit acting competition who will be taken to sets of his next film for a day. The selected students are Vishal from IILM and Mritanshi from Delhi University.
Other events included competitions in poster making, tattoos Ikebana, dance, robotic and LAN gaming A quiz show by quiz master Charu Sharma also got a resounding response from participants and the audience. An exciting fashion show saw renowned models such as Noyonika Chaterjee, Amanpreet Wahia, Montu Tomar and Ritu Singh walk the ramp and showcase outfits designed by Charu Parashar.
Chorus 2010 turned out to be a true celebration of Global Oneness and promises to bring in more next year for students in NCR.
