Mumbai,Lafarge India recently announced the launch of the Health and Safety Month 2010 celebrations across all its plants, expansion sites, warehouses and offices in India.
Themed around the concepts of Housekeeping and Road Safety, various programs will be organized throughout the month to raise awareness about health and safety at workplace, on the roads and at home among employees, subcontractors and the local communities living near Lafarge Indias facilities.
Awareness programs for women and children, first aid trainings, health check up and eye testing camps, competition on housekeeping initiatives have been planned for this year. Also on offer will be Contractors Safety Meet and Road Safety Training for drivers, villagers, transporters and employees. To ensure family participation different contests for children and programs for employee spouses are being organized.
Health and Safety Month is celebrated across all Lafarge BUs around the world, in the 78 countries in which the Group operates.
Speaking about the occasion Uday Khanna, CEO Lafarge India said, For Lafarge, the health and safety of its employees and subcontractors is an absolute priority. This year we plan to create awareness about how a clean and organized workplace can result in decreased accidents and incidents. Also it will be our endeavor to educate everyone about the safety aspects related to road travel. We sincerely hope that these initiatives will contribute in achieving zero fatal accident rate and zero work related illness rate so that Lafarge can have one of the best health and safety records among global industrial groups.
