India R&D has been awarded NCPEDP (National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People) - Mphasis Universal Design Award for all their work towards the cause of Accessibility. This honor showcases the dedicated efforts of Yahoo! in making their products and services accessible for people with disabilities.

Yahoo! India R&D is one of the very few companies to have a state-of-the-art Accessibility Lab in Bangalore, which evaluates all Yahoo! products for Accessibility. This lab works closely with the global Accessibility team in Sunnyvale and is fully equipped with different assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, track ball, switch, speech recognition software and screen reader for mobile, giving employees the opportunity to try different technologies and incorporate these considerations into their daily work. The Accessibility team at Yahoo! works with hundreds of Yahoo!s designers, developers, engineers, and product managers across the globe to make sure all products developed across regions meet Accessibility requirements.
Recently, Yahoo! also launched its global Yahoo! Accessibility Blog
Srinivasu Chakravarthula who manages the Accessibility Lab at Yahoo! India R&D is also a member of the National Advisory Committee of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) India and the Disability Working Committee of NASSCOM. The company endeavors to create awareness about Accessibility by supporting and participating in accessibility-related events.
